Once the Anderson family decided to adopt a dog, they fell in love immediately. Standing out of the crowd was a blue-eyed puppy that would melt your heart. The truth was only revealed to them once they took their new furry friend to the vet, and he shockingly decided to call the police…
What’s going on?
The new four-legged friend was adopted by Billy and Erica, who had no clue what to do or think when their dog was taken away so abruptly. Nothing was said to them, and the vet wouldn’t explain what was happening or why was it even happening. The Anderson family was just standing there in disbelief while so many things were rushing through their minds.
The call to the police
After waiting for 10 minutes with all sorts of thoughts racing through their minds, the vet finally came back… but without their dog. They didn’t have any time to ask where he was as the vet immediately told them that he had called the police and they would be there any minute. Billy and Erica were shocked. They didn’t understand why was this happening to them.
So clueless
Billy and Erica’s son, Tim, were starting to get extremely upset as all he wanted was his brand new dog, and his new friend back. That’s when the vet finally started explaining his side of the story, and everything made sense. They couldn’t believe how they could be so clueless. But before we can reveal what was said, we will need to provide you with a little backstory…
Get to know the Anderson family
The Andersons – Billy, Erica, and little four-year-old Tim – had just moved to Vermont and hadn’t met many people or knew how to get around. There was a lot of despair among them, but the move itself wasn’t the reason. This sadness had started because of something else way before their life has changed by the move.
Goodbye Rio
Unfortunately, the Andersons had recently said goodbye to their beloved family pet of 11 years, Rio. However, he wasn’t just any ordinary furry friend, as he had become a family member with four legs. This is because Rio became Billy’s first friend after he left home at the tender age of 16 and they never parted since then.
Fulfilling dreams
Billy had always dreamt of a perfect life while growing up. This was because he had been brought up in an unpleasant home environment – his parents were both verbally and emotionally abusive – he was looking for a way to better himself and create a balance with those around him. He started this off by leaving home and buying a dog.
Man’s best friend
Billy and his new dog Rio became joined at the hip. They were each other’s best friends, and Rio helped Billy through many hardships, such as trying to make it on his own, especially at the young age he had to start afresh. His four-legged friend was there for all the big events in his life, such as when he expanded his family with Erica and little Tim.
When times got sad
Since Rio had made such an impact on Billy’s life, there was no surprise that his passing impacted him significantly. His life no longer felt the same, and the rest of the family was devastated too. In the life of Billy and his family, a huge void was created with Rio not being around anymore. That’s when they came up with an idea to make things better.
Let’s adopt a dog
After enough time had passed, the family considered the idea of getting a new dog. There was a lot of skepticism, especially from Erica, who thought it was still too soon for another pet. The heartbreak over losing Rio was still there, and she was shocked that her husband was okay with bringing another pup into their lives. However, it started to become something they all wanted.
Expanding the family
There were many long conversations between Erica and Billy about whether they were moving too fast into adopting another dog or if this is the right decision. However, Billy kept trying to make his case that the family was ready. In the end, Erica agreed to bring a new furry friend into the family, but there were still some other things they needed to consider.
What breed?
The first consideration that needed to be made by the family was what breed they were going to get. It didn’t take too long for them to finally agree to adopt a husky, which was such an obvious decision as Rio, their beloved family member too was also a husky. That’s when they started expanding their search online to find a licensed breeder with puppies available.
Let the search commence
Billy and Erica were surprised to discover that finding a puppy in a specific breed wasn’t as easy as they thought at first. After searching far and wide, they were able to narrow down their search to just only two husky breeders. They went to go and visit the two options, however, the only thing they met was just a lot of disappointment and great sadness. And they thought finding a new furry friend will be easy.
Something was off
From the moment the family met with the first breeder, they immediately felt something wasn’t right. Of course, the puppies were cute and fun to play with, but they didn’t look like they were living in a comfortable area. The price of the puppies also seemed rather questionable and not what a licensed breeder would charge. They didn’t want to make any mistakes and bring more sadness than they already had.
No more puppies
Although the Andersons were happier with the second breeder and how they were caring for the puppies, they were met with bad news when they arrived. No more puppies were available as the last two had just been sold. They were devastated by the news. Billy and Erica no longer knew what to do as these were their only two options.
An alternative option
The young family was left feeling sad again because both of their visits had not turned out as they were hoping for it. It was time for them to go home and see if they could brainstorm any other ideas. However, on the trip back, they drove past an animal shelter. What luck, they thought. Suddenly, everything started to seem more positive.
Worth a look?
Everyone, especially Erica, was so happy to see the shelter. They thought they had lost hope, and this seemed like it was fate that brought them there. Erica begged Billy to stop so they could have a look around, and Billy had a feeling that they would find what they’d been searching for. That’s when they stopped and went to go to check it out.
The big discovery
Since the family had found themselves in a shelter in a small town, they didn’t think there would be much available, and this was the case. The woman working at the shelter told the couple that there were only five dogs, and two of them were puppies. Regardless, they still went to have a look, and they all were taken back by surprise. One of the puppies looked just like a husky! They couldn’t believe their eyes; this dog’s most fascinating aspect was its eyes.
Beautiful eyes
This husky pup had eyes like no other. They were bright blue and stood out the most from the rest of the pups. He also seemed a little shy and stayed away from the family, compared to the other dogs in the shelter who were jumping and begging for attention. This puppy seemed quite reserved. And the pup stole their heart in a second.
No identification
It seemed like complete fate, as the shelter’s worker told the family the puppy had been left there just the night before! He was still getting used to his surroundings, and since he didn’t have a chip or any other identification, they didn’t know much about him. The family knew straight away they wanted him, but there were some obstacles they had to come over.
Ready to adopt
The worker at the shelter alerted the family that they don’t like to home dogs when they are unsure about their identity. However, since it was a small town and the shelter hadn’t seen a new adoption in months, so they decided to make an exception this time. Of course, the family was thrilled, but it could be a decision the shelter comes to regret.
Filling out the paperwork
Everyone, especially little Tim, was so happy to know they’d be able to take the puppy home that day. It all felt like fate, and that’s when it was time for them to sign the papers. While this all happened, Tim got to play with the puppy, who was getting more used to him. It already seemed like they are becoming a whole family once again with a furry member.
Everyone’s smiling
Within an hour, all the paperwork had been signed, and they were ready to bring home their new furry friend. Everyone couldn’t stop smiling and was so excited for their future with the puppy, especially little Tim. They all had a new best friend. Sadly, these feelings of happiness didn’t last for too long as the upcoming days gave their life an unexpected turn.
Booking the vet
Before they knew it, the family would get news that would destroy their world. This was because they had to book the puppy in with a vet so he could have a full health checkup, something the shelter couldn’t do. Maybe if they knew what was going to happen, they wouldn’t have rushed to make the appointment…
Home time
Although there was an opportunity to take their new pet, called Blue, to the vet that day, they didn’t want to rush the process. Instead, they made the appointment for the next day and allowed Blue to get settled in their home.
Inspecting his surroundings
Blue was no longer shy and holding back when he got into his new home. Instead, he released all his energy by running around the house and inspecting every corner. In the end, he found his new bed, where he fell asleep after his long day.
Falling in love
It had only been a few hours, but the young family was already so in love with Blue. They couldn’t have asked for a better result of the day, and as they all sat and watched him sleep, they thought everything was perfect. Unfortunately, there was something they didn’t know…
Getting ready for tomorrow
After Blue had been asleep for over an hour, the family thought it was time for them to also go to bed. It had been a busy day for all of them, full of excitement and many other emotions. They also wanted to be ready for the vet appointment tomorrow.
Their new best friend
Erica, Billy, and Tim were all ready to go to bed feeling happy. They had made a new best friend that day, and he seemed like the perfect replacement for their beloved Rio, even though he would always stay in their hearts. Sadly, these feelings were short-lived.
A startling wake-up
In the middle of the night, the family was woken up by a loud noise from downstairs. This startled everyone, and Billy went downstairs to see what was happening. He wanted to ensure Blue was okay.
Interest in computers
Billy noticed that Blue wasn’t in his bed anymore, so he went to go see where he had moved. That’s when he noticed Blue was sitting right next to his computer. This was not a behavior he had noticed in Rio, so he was very confused about this interest.
Locking up the office
Blue wouldn’t move from the computer, and the only way Billy could keep him away from it was by putting him back in his bed and closing the office door. He just wanted to go back to sleep, and luckily he didn’t hear loud noises for the rest of the night.
Back to the office
In the morning, Blue wasn’t in his bed again but instead sleeping next to the office door. Billy explained what had happened to his family and no one knew why he would be so interested in his computer.
Vet time
There was no time for the young family to sit and dwell on the fact they have a puppy obsessed with computers because they had a vet appointment to get to within an hour. As they got ready to leave, they noticed Blue seemed tired.
A family trip
Although the original plan was for the family to leave Tim at home since they’d be sitting in the waiting room for most of the appointment, Tim didn’t want to go anywhere without Blue. They decided to go together, but Billy would soon wish he went alone.
So busy
Even though it was very early in the morning, the vet was already extremely busy. The family had arrived a little bit late, meaning they had to wait for a while in the crowded waiting room. Blue, however, was gaining a lot of attention due to his beautiful eyes.
Handling the attention
Since it was rare to find a puppy with such blue eyes, he was getting a lot of attention and the family received tons of questions. Most of the time, they didn’t have the answers, and they didn’t know why Blue had such unique eyes.
Finding out information
Since they had some time to kill in the waiting room, Billy and Erica pulled out their phones and started looking on the internet for an answer about Blue’s eyes. However, there wasn’t much information since it was such a rare phenomenon.
Something to do with pigment
They found only one piece of information that wasn’t as interesting as they expected. The blue eyes were caused by cells that cannot create any pigment. It was a rare disorder but still possible among husky puppies.
Suspicion arises
Since Blue was getting so much attention, the vet’s receptionist started to notice. Once she got a look at the pup, she called the vet straight away and ensured the next appointment seen was the Anderson family.
Pushing up the appointment
Before they knew it, the vet came into the waiting room and told the Anderson family that it was now their turn, but they had to wait in the room. Although it was good that they had been moved up the appointment list, Billy couldn’t help but wonder why this was.
The vet taking Blue
The Andersons handed Blue to the vet, who quickly looked at the puppy before taking him into his office. He remained confused because he used to go with Rio to the vet’s office to help keep him calm while they ran their tests.
Coming out the office
Only 10 minutes passed before the vet returned to the family, but he wasn’t with Blue. There was no time for Billy or Erica to ask questions, as the vet asked the family to join him in another room so he could explain what was happening.
Getting the police involved
This is when the vet told the family that he had notified the police about Blue and that they were on their way to get them. Both Billy and Erica stood there shocked, and Tim started to act up, crying because he wanted the vet to give his dog back to him.
It all made sense
The reason the vet called the police is that there was a report going around about a wealthy tech CEO who had a missing dog that fit Blue’s description. He had said he would offer a handsome award to anyone that could find the puppy.
Taking precautions
The vet wanted to make clear to the Andersons that they weren’t in trouble for having Blue, but he wanted to call the police first in case they got scared and decided to run away with the puppy.
The CEO arrives
The CEO and police arrived at the vet within half an hour and sat down to talk with Billy and Erica. He explained that Blue was his, and the only reason he wasn’t chipped was that he was still young and he hadn’t had time yet.
His love for computers
Since Blue’s real owner was a tech CEO, it started to make much more sense why he was so interested in Billy’s computer. They determined that he must have recognized it and became entranced since it was a familiar object.
Saying bye to Blue
There was nothing the Andersons could do – they had to give Blue back to the CEO. Tim was extremely upset since he still thought it was his puppy. Luckily, there was some good news on the horizon.
Receiving the reward
The vet had already told the family that there was a reward for whoever found Blue and gave him back to him; therefore, the CEO handsomely rewarded them. He also said they could see the puppy, whose real name is North, anytime.
Bringing home a new puppy
Since the family had some money from the CEO, they used it to adopt another husky, which they brought home a few weeks later. They ensured they adopted him from a licensed and verified breeder, and they all quickly fell in love with him.
