It started innocently
Caroline claims that Clara embodied some things she was not, such as being extroverted, adventurous, mischievous, and full of mischief. John and Emily initially thought Caroline’s stories were cute, so they pretended to believe her. They pretended to be interested in the girl and asked Caroline plenty of questions about her, all in good fun.
But that wasn’t the end of it. She had such a strong connection with this twin figure that she couldn’t help but talk about her whenever the chance presented itself.
